Facilities and Financial Manager
John D. Halamka is the International Healthcare Innovation Professor at Harvard Medical School, Executive Director of the Healthcare Technology Exploration Center, chairman of the New England Healthcare Exchange Network (NEHEN), and a practicing emergency physician. He has a certificate in Organic and Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Massachusetts.
KATHY A. HALAMKA BA, MFA
Volunteer Coordinator and Events
Kathy Halamka, BA, MFA, brings a fine arts training to her many roles here at the sanctuary, including Volunteer Director, Events Program Manager, Social Media Manager, and Public Relations Manager. Serving also as President of the Norfolk County Beekeepers Association rounds out her interest in working with the community. You will often find her spending time with her poultry buddies.
Tyla has always been an animal lover and even started taking horseback riding lessons at the age of four. She graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School in 2017 as an animal/equine science and agricultural management major. As well as her role as our barn/farm and staff manager, Tyla manages her own farm and is a firefighter and EMT on the Holliston Fire Department. She believes there is always more to learn and plans on continuing her education. She has the goal of receiving her Equine Body Worker Certification.
MARLA ANDREWS BS, MEd
Humane Education Director
Marla is a lifelong animal advocate who brings her enthusiasm for working with all ages to Unity's education programs. She holds a master's degree in Humane Education and Animal Welfare and comes to us after 15 years with the MSPCA. She is also passionate about the human-animal bond, writing her master’s thesis on compassion fatigue in animal caregivers and pursuing certification as a Pet Loss Grief Specialist. When she is not at Unity, Marla enjoys spending time with her beloved pit bull, Jupiter, and searching for seals along the New England coast.
