FIRST OF MAY

"May Day" is today, it simply means May 1st! As a child I remember leaving flowers at neighbor’s front doors on this day. There is a lot of history surrounding the first day in May too. It is even Beltane, about midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice.

Mayday is a call for help, we hear this call used for ocean ships and airplanes, but do you know where it comes from?

M'aidez! French for "Help me".

We are all stronger when we help each other, and lift each other up in kindness. The Sanctuary residents know that you are all here to help them too, we cannot do this without you.

We have amazing community-building plans to help: the animals, the people of the community, and the environment. We have our regular giving opportunities throughout the year, but we also have special campaigns. Vital to the mission and the animals are The Sanctuary Circle monthly giving and also The Sanctuary Legacy Giving Society for estate planning. Volunteering, or being on our staff are just a couple of other ways to be integral to the mission!

TODAY - if you simply shared your love of the Sanctuary with one friend and made them enthusiastic too, you would have been an invaluable help to the Sanctuary and the rescues..

We welcome you to be involved in any part of the Sanctuary that inspires you and feels right to you!
