We support the entire New England community with numerous programs that are constantly expanding. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of animals, people and the world around us.
EDUCATION AND INTERNSHIPS
New Education Programs!
Two new programs have arrived, with more to follow.
Animal Tales: A Compassionate Reading Group for Preschoolers
Join us for our monthly reading group for children ages 2-5. We read stories with themes of peace, acceptance, and compassion in the hopes of fostering kindness toward animals and each other. Sessions often include a "meet and greet" with one of the
sanctuary’s animal residents, so please dress for the weather as we may go outdoors. Children must be accompanied by an adult (max. two children per adult) for the entire session (approximately 45 minutes). By donation at the door.
Middle School Animal Ethics
Are you a middle school student who is passionate about animals, or do you know a budding animal advocate?
We are offering an after-school class just for you! For five weeks, we will explore current animal welfare topics through lively discussions and activities. Topics may include local and global issues such as animal shelters and sanctuaries; animals in entertainment; legislation; hunting and poaching; human-wildlife conflicts; and careers working with animals. The program will be led by Marla Andrews, a life-long animal advocate and educator who holds an M.Ed. in Humane Education and Animal Welfare.
Class Schedule: Tuesdays 3:30pm-5:00pm, 5 sessions starting January 14th, 2020 (Jan.14, Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, Feb. 11).
The total cost of the course is $60.00 per student, with full and partial scholarships available. Limited spots available.
We offer opportunities for local schools and colleges to include Unity Farm experiences in their coursework offerings. Interns work closely with staff to participate in hands-on daily events, and developing relationships with the animals that far exceeds any other experience we offer.
