Our LEAP Changemakers 2023-2024 have knocked it out of the park!
On May 10, 2024, the participants and their families were at the Sanctuary 10am-4pm to make their terrific presentations on humane and environmental topics of their choice, everyone had a scrumptious plant-based vegan meal "taco bar extraordinaire", and the LEAPers provided a narrated tour of all the rescues to everyone. This day is the culmination of a year long series of service, projects, workshops and class sessions
They created a website for their efforts as well!
We will miss the outgoing seniors! Applications are open for current UFS LEAPers to apply for the second year program in 2024-2025, and new first year applicants (in high school) are very welcome as well (incoming freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors)
To our delight, the Executive Director of the national LEAP, Danielle Hanosh of Blackberry Farm Animal Sanctuary, spent the day with the LEAPers and was incredibly supportive.
All of this was made possible because of the tireless efforts of AMAZING Humane Education Director Jennifer D'Angelo and her LEAP Changemakers. Thank you to the Middlesex Savings Community Foundation for their grant support for this program in 2024 as well. UFS Volunteers and the Caregiver team helped support the program and our big event as well. Chef Tyler Wehr and Chef Brian D'Angelo worked their culinary magic as always (we are SO LUCKY they love being chefs).
