When I was born in the 1960’s, there were 3,126,686,743 people on this blue-green marble we all call home. At the start of 2024, the estimate is 8,019,876,189. We all experience the increased world population and the changes in technology which have added to the complexity of life.

But in so many ways, the answers to peace and a centered sense of self will be how you choose to bring balance into your life no matter how busy you are. Is it family time? A vacation? A walk in the park to see some green space? It does not have to be traditional meditation. One thing that works for so many people is to compassionately give of yourself to others, and focus on feeding your brain the most positive and forward thinking experiences you can. Bring light into your life, not the dark. Instead of ignoring the world around you, balance with a filter that enables you to have peace in your spirit.

The life we have chosen - to rescue and care for the members of the sanctuary - is complex and always changing. It can even be overwhelming. To balance the fact that we cannot save all the animals, we try to find other options for them, but we also forgive ourselves if we cannot. We are part of the solution, not causing the problem. That helps bring balance.

We have chosen to rescue Hamish the Highland this past month. We cannot know how that story will go, but we step forward and we try.

If you find the inspiration to do so, you are welcome to be a part of the good things Unity Farm Sanctuary works to achieve. Spread the word about us, tour the Sanctuary, walk the woodland trails and see the wildlife and the green space, volunteer, support.

What other things might you do to bring balance to your own life?
